Northeastern Counseling Center’s substance abuse prevention and suicide prevention efforts heavily focus on increasing awareness in our communities. With a coverage area of Daggett, Duchesne, and Uintah Counties, our prevention team relies heavily on local residents, church groups, civic groups, and businesses to host and promote prevention presentations. Our prevention presentations are offered at no charge.
EASY-Eliminate Alcohol Sales to Youth/Off Premise Alcohol Sales training
The E.A.S.Y. Law requires mandatory training for each store employee that sells beer or directly supervises the sale of beer. Training must be completed before employees sell alcohol and at least every 3 years after that. Stores may hire a trainer to train staff in person, purchase a training package to train their own staff, create and submit their own training for approval, or an individual may take online training.
On premise beverage server training
Utah law states every person who serves alcohol in a restaurant, club, bar, or tavern, must complete an alcohol training and education seminar within 30 days of employment and at least every 3 years after that.
Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, early-intervention course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use challenges. We teach Adult Mental Health First Aid classes and Youth Mental Health First Aid classes
Prime For Life® provides a judgment-free way of understanding how alcohol and drug-related problems develop, what we can do to prevent them, and why sometimes we need help. We offer an 8-hour non-driving offense course and a 16-hour course for driving related offenses such as DUI’s. We also offer Teen PRI courses for 17 and under.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training is designed to teach individuals how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, ask someone directly about their suicidal thoughts, persuade them to seek help, and refer them to appropriate resources. It empowers participants with the skills to intervene and potentially save lives by fostering a supportive and proactive approach to mental health crises in their communities. QPR training aims to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and provide practical tools for effectively supporting individuals at risk of suicide.
VitalCog training focuses on developing cognitive and emotional skills to enhance decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal relationships in professional and personal settings. Participants learn strategies to manage stress, improve communication, and foster resilience through evidence-based techniques and practical exercises. The training aims to empower individuals with the mental tools needed to navigate challenges more effectively and achieve greater overall well-being.
